Chamber Singers Spring 2025 Concert

Friday, April 4·8:00 – 9:30 PM

The UVA Department of Music is pleased to present the UVA Chamber Singers Spring 2025 Concert on Friday, April 4th, at 8:00 PM in Old Cabell Hall!

Charlottesville  In the spring of 2005, a new vocal ensemble – the UVA Chamber Singers – first took the stage as part of a University Singers concert.  In the two decades since, they’ve given numerous performances, highlighted by some tremendous successes and unique opportunities.  Join the current singers, alumni, and conductor Michael Slon for a celebration of the ensemble’s 20th anniversary – Friday, April 4th – 8:00 pm at UVA’s Old Cabell Hall.

The program will feature highlights from programs across the first 20 years – including a Renaissance madrigal and motet, Palestrina’s “Sicut cervus” (once performed by the group in a workshop with the Tallis Scholars), excerpts from Bach and Carissimi, romanticism from Brahms’ Neue Liebeslieder and mysticism from Arvo Pärt, right up to works from Broadway, the Cuban song “Son de la Loma”, and a stunning arrangement of Ben Folds’ popular song “The Luckiest”.  Join us for these and a few more surprises at this special celebration!
